As indicated on the welcome page of this website czp.ffn.temporary.site, if ECOWAS is to function like an integration organization, and not just like an intergovernmental cooperation institution, it is imperative that the basic principles and rules of community law be integrated into ECOWAS law and applied by all the Member States. In other words, it is unlikely that the ECOWAS economic integration objectives will be achieved if the appropriate legal framework in not put in place. For this reason, the organization in Praia, Cape Verde, in May 2022, of a four-day international conference to critically examine the legal framework of ECOWAS economic integration arrangement (see below) is a welcome development, a bold step in the right direction. It is hoped that the conference will pave the way for an in-depth review of the ECOWAS legal framework, endowing the institution with legal texts consistent with community legal system.
